Many Ways to Support Us
Volunteer Stations, and Other Ways to Support SCP
In addition to our direct service volunteers, Senior Companion Program offers other volunteer positions that support its ability to meet the growing demand for personal in-home care. Here’s how you can help:
- Become a member of the Advisory Council Board. The board assists us with community relations, program marketing, fundraising, special events planning, implementation, evaluations, and more.
- Assist with special projects. You can help with newsletter and flyer production, volunteer recognition event planning, education trainings, and in-service meeting participation.
- Help with volunteer recruitment and coordination. We need people who can assist in field work, direct client contact, and volunteer/client assessment and placement.
Or become part of our King County network of Volunteer Stations
Volunteer Stations are community agencies that draw on community commitment and support to meet local needs in partnership with the Senior Companion Program. Together, they match clients and Senior Companion volunteers of similar ethnic or cultural backgrounds. These matches foster friendships that last a lifetime.
Volunteer Station agencies cooperate with Volunteers of America in partnerships, placement and supervision of senior companion volunteers, and assist with clients who have special needs and might be at risk of institutionalization. In turn, our senior companions keep the agencies informed about the progress, potential health problems, and other needs of their clients. Through this partnership, we help clients remain more independent at home with one-on-one personal assistance.
Our King County Volunteer Station partner network continues to grow
