Distribution Center Assistant Volunteer
Goal of Food Bank:
Provide our residents with their basic needs so they can concentrate on doing what is needed
to bring quality to their life
Goal of the Food Bank Assistant:
Assist distribution center manager with warehouse and related functions.
Volunteer Activities may include but not limited to:
• Helping to unload and load trucks and vans
• Sort and shelve incoming food donations
• Assisting with warehouse related paperwork (distribution and packing lists)
• Keep area neat and clean, sweeping and mopping regularly
• Check in and check out in accordance with volunteer procedures
• Assist in oversight of product distribution to prevent product loss
• Greet incoming clients and assist them to begin shopping
• Assist clients to their vehicles and return shopping carts to the intake line
• Work with the lead volunteer team captain and food bank manager to enhance client services
As directed by the team captain or food bank manager, volunteer activities may also include:
• Sort, clean and bag produce and bulk items as directed
• Sort product and package CSFP bags for distribution
• Distribute CSFP bags under the supervision of the team captain or food bank manager
Requirements (knowledge/skills)?
• Ability to lift 50lbs
• At least 16 years of age
• Ability to develop communication and teamwork skills
• Sensitivity to issues effecting low income families and individuals in crisis
• Ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds
Timeframe:
Minimum of a 3 month commitment
Shifts will be determined in conjunction with the food bank manager or distribution center manager
Supervisor:
Food bank manager, distribution center manager
