AmeriCorps*VISTA Volunteer Program

Building nonprofit leadership skills and collaborative thinking through community service

Volunteers of America proudly works in partnership with the Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS) to provide AmeriCorps*VISTA members to organizations serving Snohomish County through VOAWW’s  VISTA Team.

AmeriCorps*VISTA is a national service program dedicated to fighting poverty in communities throughout the country.  VISTA (Volunteers in Service to America) members are committed individuals who dedicate one year of their lives to full-time service designing, building, and sustaining anti-poverty programs at an organization of their choice.  VOAWW VISTA projects address key issues in our community such as positively engaging and teaching at-risk youth, creating sustainable services for persons with developmental and physical disabilities, promoting senior volunteerism and community engagement, and increasing access to affordable housing.

Volunteers of America strives to provide VISTA resources to a wide variety of organizations and anti-poverty projects throughout Snohomish County.  Our current partners include:

VISTA was founded in 1964 as a part of the “war on poverty” and was merged with the new AmeriCorps national service program in 1993.  VOAWW’s VISTA Team has built and improved anti-poverty programs in Snohomish County since 1994.
