Volunteers of America’s expansive network of programs provide numerous giving opportunities for people who want to help. Much-needed financial gifts, and items on our Wish List, are used effectively to support our programs, yet we also encourage you to be ’hands-on’ and engage with our many programs in other ways, too! Attend an Event Start by checking out our upcoming events and ’Stories of Hope Tours’ to learn more about who we are and what we do. You’ll want to know what principles guide our organization, how we make an impact on your community and why private support is so crucial to our continued success. Volunteer Or jump in right away and volunteer! You can organize a much-needed food drive, or you may have another specific cause or population that moves you to action. Our programs address a wide range of human need: hunger and homelessness, conflict resolution, early childhood intervention, supported living for the developmentally disabled, crisis response, navigating community resources and more. Perhaps you’d like to develop personal or professional skills that not only benefit others, but enhance your resume as well. And, if you are just starting out in the world of volunteering, our Youth Action Team is a fabulous way for young people to begin a life of volunteer work. Invite a Guest Speaker You can also get involved and learn more about what we do by requesting a speaker from among our staff. Volunteers of America’s professionals are experts in their fields. They see hope inspired every day as they go about their work to reach, serve, uplift and empower the people of this community. Let our speakers share their experience and knowledge with your group. They will inform, educate and inspire you to make a meaningful contribution to the world around you. Volunteer testamonial. Relationships of any kind, even under the best circumstances, can be difficult. This is certainly true of prisoners at the Monroe Correctional Reformatory Unit and Twin Rivers Unit. However, they have the unique opportunity to peacefully confront the issues that inevitably surface in close quarters. They can take part in a mediation session.
