Food and Fund Drives build momentum, inspire service in action

Even with daily pickups at area grocery stores and the three large annual food drives Volunteers of America can count on each year, we cannot keep up with the human service needs of vulnerable families.
We now depend on community generosity and private support to keep pace with the resource demands that face us, and can suggest the ideas below knowing that successful results will have an immediate impact on those in need among us.
Food drives are a popular way to make a difference
There is no disputing the clarity of impact here! Our Food and Fund Drive packet is information designed to plan and coordinate your event, with an emphasis on fun. You can expect information that includes:
- where to start
- planing the details
- adding energy and fun
- ordering food barrels for drop-off locations
It also includes information on our most-wanted foods, and coordinating a food bank drop-off volunteer event!
Or be creative, tap into your passion, and come up with your own idea!
Some ideas are listed below to get your started. And let us emphasize that any resources you can provide, especially items that are used - or outgrown - often, will stretch the budgets and the dignity of individuals and families in need.
- Baby essentials, including diapers, baby wipes and formula
- School supplies and backpacks, leading into school
- Summer camp equipment and supplies
- Holiday toy and gift drive
- Shoes and boots - anytime!
- Household and laundry cleaners, toiletries and feminine personal hygiene products
- (insert your idea here)
