Everything we do Meets a Basic Need

Everything we do meets a basic need, whether its a parent looking for child care, a senior seeking companionship to retain inner joy and purpose, or an adult with developmental disabilties finding personal support to live independently.

Every day, in each corner of Volunteers of America, you will find us helping people, families and communities overcome fundamental gaps, empowering them to live independently, self-sufficiently and with quality.

We consider access to food and housing absolutely core to helping others meet their basic needs, and over time, have developed comprehensive services for these most vulnerable of our community.  Read more about the Basic Needs Services we offer below, and think about how you might want to get involved.  We could sure use your help!

Volunteers of America learned very early on that hunger hurts, literally. It is only when people have this very basic need satisfied that they can concentrate on doing what is needed to bring quality to their life.

Spring & Summer 2010 Schedule is Here!

At Volunteers of America, we support individuals in the community to help them reach their full potential. We are building strong communities by offering people the resources they need to be successful and self sufficient.

We believe in the importance of personal responsibility and  that is why Volunteers of America is offering Life Skills workshops to help community members learn vital skills needed in everyday life.

Workshops are offered monthly and are open to anyone. Course topics range from budgeting and financial management, to nutrition and cooking, to managing strong emotions.

Housing comes first. Volunteers of America understands the impact and devastation of homelessness on parents and children, so we initially work with families to stabilize housing. It is then we begin to address the issues that caused homeless in the first place.
