Sometimes access to a phone makes all the difference

Turning Phone Lines Into Life Lines Community Voice Mail helps people living in poverty, transition and homelessness rebuild their lives by connecting them to jobs, housing, information and hope.
How Does It Work? CVM users receive a local phone number and record their own personalized greeting. They have the ability to receive/retrive messages 24hrs a day from any phone. The system sounds like a regular phone with voice mail capacity to outside callers. Users can utilize the services to aid them in achieving multiple goals:
- Employment
- Housing
- Education
- Safe Communication
- Social Services
- Accessing Public Benefits
- Health Care
- Contacting Family
- And More!
Easy to Distribute and Use Volunteers of America enrolls local agencies and trains case managres on how to distribute voice mail boxes to their clients. You need only a few minutes and a touch-tone phone to issue a CVM number to your client. Your client walks out the door with a new phone number and is immediately empowered with the tangible tool they need to succeed!
Who Uses CVM? Community Voice Mail partners with thousands of agencies across the U.S. to serve those in crisis and transition:
- Job Seekers
- Homeless
- Domestic Violence Survivors
- Veterans
- Foster Youth
- Natural Disaster Victims
No Access to a Phone? - Its a Larger Barrier than You Might Think Just ask Ken, a hard-working local man who connected with the Volunteers of America Community Voice Mail program. A voice mail box enabled him to find short-term construction contracts and odd jobs, moving him from his truck into an apartment, and onto the road of financial independence.
